2009: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

Modern Warfare series of Call of Duty no doubt earned a big name in the game industry. In 2009 COD Modern Warfare 2 remained number one among the best selling video games. It is a first person shooting game, that is developed by the infinity ward while published by Activision. This game was a second turning point after COD MW1 and left back every other title in 2009.

2010: Call of Duty Black Ops

Call of Duty remained unbeatable even in 2010 with their most amazing series COD Black Ops. This Series was developed by Treyarch instead of Infinity Ward. While the gameplay was based on historical missions of CIA in the year 1960. Release of Black Ops at that time was predicting a bright future of Activision because of this success.

2011: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

Would you believe, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 sold 25 million game copies in 2011. It was awarded the best selling games of 2011 and the Activision Department was on peak in the industry at that time. Activision and Sledgehammer Games jointly developed MW3.

2012: Call of Duty Black Ops II

In 2012, Activision earned $500 million from Call of Duty Black Ops II on the first day of its release. They sold more than 700 million copies of COD Black Ops II. Which broke all the previous sales records and set a new achievement for the COD series.

2013: Grand Theft Auto V

After taking a break of some years in GTA lineup, Rockstar came on top in the year 2013. They released Grand Theft Auto V on PS3 & Xbox 360 which became number one among the best selling video games of 2013. Later on, Rockstar released GTA V on Pc platforms which is now the most selling game of all the time.

2014: Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

After the deep disappointment from the sales volume of Call of Duty Ghost. Activision returned back in the race with Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. This Science-Fiction based games successfully covered previous gaps and again become number one in the list of best selling video games. Game also included actors from Hollywood Industry for some cut scenes.

2015: Call of Duty Black Ops III

2015 was quite a tough year for Activision, but Black Ops III somehow got success in achieving the title of best selling video games. From the year 2009 to 2015, Activision remained unbeatable for others to cross the margin of their sales volume.

2016: Call of Duty Infinite Warfare

It was the second time where Activision was getting down on the chart of sales volume. Call of Duty Infinite Warfare was still among the best selling video games in 2016. But Activision claimed it an unexpected result that could not fulfill the task.

So, After facing a negative response from the Science-Fiction story, Activision decided to make the next series based on historical wars. They released Call of Duty WWII which successfully covered previous loss and once again Activision became number one in the list of best selling video games.

2018: Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar took 7 years to develop this wonderful game, which won the title of best selling video game in the year 2018. At that time, it was only available for Xbox One & PS4. While a few months ago Rockstar released it for PC platforms also.

2019: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019
